The more you remain entrenched in sin, the weaker your testimony is. Put an end to damaging your character and be a city on a hill for the whole world to see.

Even though you are a child of God, you are undergoing the process of sanctification. In a restaurant environment, employees are taught to take many steps to avoid outside contamination. The smallest contaminant can ruin a batch of food due to the risk of illness. Well, a holy lifestyle can be contaminated by outside sources as well. Pastor Jeff teaches about how the family line of Seth, who followed and obeyed God, began to intermingle with the family line of Cain, who lived in sin apart from God. By compromising their legacy of godliness, the line of Seth lost focus and fell out of God’s favor.

Maybe there are a lot of people in your family that struggle with addiction, or with abusive tendencies, and you think that you will end up just like them. By taking the hard step to talk to your neighbor about an offense or a disagreement, you give yourself and your neighbor the opportunity to understand each other, and to get ahead of any potential conflict that the enemy may be trying to draw out of you. To Satan, you’re nothing more than a pawn. He doesn’t care about you, but he wants to use you to sow division within the body of Christ. Because when believers are isolated from each other, it is easier for them to fall away from the path of Jesus, and back into lives of sin. Have you ever had a puppy follow you around everywhere you go? Even when you try to use the bathroom or leave the house, the puppy never wants to leave your side. Well, Pastor Jeff teaches you today that in many ways, Jesus pursues you like an affectionate pet, but instead of Him needing something from you, He stays with you because you need something from Him. The presence of Jesus is what fuels the Christian life, what allows you to be a faithful follower even in challenging times.

Nowhere in Scripture does it say that the Christian life is going to be easy? In fact, there are many examples in the Bible of people suffering and even dying for their faith. It means that Scripture is great for teaching and correction, but shouldn’t be used for personal arguments or to win an argument out of anger. God’s word is much too valuable to be used to tear down your neighbor. Rather, you should be going into God’s word alongside your neighbor, and finding ways to build each other up. Your fight isn’t against flesh and blood but against the forces of evil.

Are you ever typing something on your phone, and notice that your phone is suggesting the next word that you would usually type? Sometimes you can keep selecting the recommended word until you have a complete sentence. Well, Pastor Jeff reminds you today that humans have a tendency to complete other people’s thoughts when in an argument. But you may assume the worst of their words before they even say anything, and make the argument even worse than it was going to be.

Your communities are a valuable target to the forces of evil. Satan would love nothing more than to infiltrate every single group of godly people and drive wedges between all of them, isolating believers and making them more likely to fall away from the path of righteousness.
